Providing VDC Training to Journeymen and Apprentices

Breakout Sessions


To be proficient in drafting in VDC programs, employees must pull from both knowledge sets and field experience. This session will discuss training union labor, both from the field and through the apprenticeship, to teach incorporating coordination software in the field. Discussions will include how contractors around the country approach VDC, what content to teach each set of people, and how they bring labor to the office.


  • Eric Posey


    Eric Posey is the owner of FUSED – an MCAA contractor offering BIM/VDC services and training. FUSED is signatory to both the United Association and Sheet Metal Workers unions utilizing tradespeople with field experience to perform VDC services. Eric is a journeyman steamfitter from UA Local 440 in Indianapolis, IN where he has worked in a wide variety of roles on commercial and industrial construction projects. Having a variety of knowledge in Autodesk software workflows, robotic total station layout, laser scanning, Eric has helped the UA’s International Training Fund develop and teach several of their VDC courses since 2015. Over the past several years, Eric was featured by Autodesk for their Skilled Trades Program, was a speaker at Autodesk University, and earned both is Revit Certified Professional and Autodesk Certified Instructor certifications.

  • Stephan Schnell

    UA Local 467 JATC

    Stephan Schnell is the Director of Training UA Local 467. He has an extensive background in construction education and construction technology. He serves on several educational committees on the local and national level.
